Alila Mayakoba is open in Mexico: Book from 21,000 Hyatt points


The time has finally come: Alila Mayakoba is now open in Mexico’s wonderful Riviera Maya.

Last January, Hyatt said the Andaz would be closing for a one-year renewal before announcing the rebrand under Alila, a major brand in sustainability, local culture and experiences.

Now open, Alila Mayakoba marks the brand’s entry into Latin America and the Caribbean.

The 60-acre property is located slightly north of Playa del Carmen and features 182 rooms, suites and villas, including options with plunge pools and even multi-story accommodations. If you really need space, the 4,574-square-foot presidential suite has three bedrooms, including one with a private terrace and Jacuzzi.

There are six bars and restaurants on the property, including the return of Casa Amte, the fine dining restaurant that was around when the hotel was an Andaz, plus a taqueria, an intimate chef’s table dining experience and a beach club serving homemade local fare, among others.

For Alila, wellness is always a priority and Spa Alila offers treatments rooted in Mayan traditions. There’s also a state-of-the-art fitness center and a variety of complementary experiences such as yoga and breathing exercise classes, spiritual rituals, and holistic fitness programs. Paid experiences include fire rituals, bike tours, and even a ceremony that takes you to a hidden cenote to connect with yourself and the land.

Alila Mayakoba is the newest addition to the Mayakoba residential and resort complex, which is also home to the Rosewood, Fairmont and Banyan Tree resorts. In addition to individual resort offerings, the area is home to an 18-hole golf course, a plaza with restaurants, entertainment and shopping, and plenty of nature to explore.

Low season rates at Alila Mayakoba start around $600 per night, but can easily reach over $1,000 during peak season. like a Hyatt World Category 6 property, award nights start at 21,000 points per night.
