Why the Jetblue Plus card remains in my wallet

I currently have more than 20 different Travel Rewards Credit Cards. Some of these are excellent for daily spending, while others offer valuable advantages that can make my travel experience less expensive or more comfortable, or both. Most have annual rates, including some strong. Every time one appears for renovation, cross the numbers and make sure it is It is worth keeping the card For another year.

A card that has made the cut for several years is the JetBlue Plus card.

Here is why I keep carrying this card on my wallet, although I only take a handful of Jetblue flights every year.

The information for the Jetblue Plus card has been independently collected by the type of points. The details of the card on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

Why did I get the JetBlue Plus card

Barclays first presented three new Jetblue credit cards in March 2016, and I quickly took the opportunity to make my trips with the carrier even more rewarding.

I live in southern Florida, in the middle of the Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL), two airports with important operations in Jetblue. The carrier also flies to several cities from Palm Beach International Airport (GDP), which is my nearest exit gate.

But Jetblue is also appealing for other reasons. I love the ability to Pool points with my wife and daughter. In addition, the experience aboard our frequent hops to the New York area is solid, which includes free Wi-Fi, unlimited sandwiches and courtesy’s direction.

We can also use the fantastic Zafiro Salon At Laguardia airport in New York (LGA) every time we fly home, thanks to me CHASE SAPPHIRE Reserve®.

I even tried Mint Jetblue For the first time last year, and it was excellent. I still hope to get a good price on a mint flight to Europe, since Jetblue now serves six destinations from the east coast. And there is much more to come, including the airline First airport halls and a New National First Class.

Why do I keep the Jetblue Plus card

The annual $ 99 rate on my Jetblue Plus card has just published, so I analyzed the previous year of card membership to see how much value the card obtained. Ultimately, I wanted to see if the card should stay in my wallet.

And it is not surprising that the answer was a summary of itself.

While I personally do not use the advantage of passing my path to Mosaic stateAnd I do not use the card for daily purchases, there are many other benefits that have tremendous value for me, namely:

  • Point bonds
  • 10% of my redeemed points
  • FREE GUARD BAG IN THE JETBLUE RATES
  • 50% discount on purchases on board

Let’s break this for each benefit to show you the total value you get from the card in the last year.

Bonuses

When a new credit card opens for the first time, the Welcome Bonus You must always cover the annual card rate (and something else). The Jetblue Plus card is no exception, since the new card holders can win 70,000 bonus points after spending $ 1,000 on purchases and paying the annual rate in its entirety, both within the first 90 days.

Based on March 2025 ValuationsThis route is worth the excellent $ 945.

Of course, the welcome bonus only applies to the first year of card membership, and I am already beyond that point, so I will not include it in my calculations. However, there is another bonus granted to card holders in the year two and beyond: 5,000 points in (or around) of their anniversary date.

Jetblue

Once again, using the TPG valuations, these points are worth around $ 68, so without putting a foot on a plane to Jetblue, it is already covering more than two thirds of the annual rate of $ 99 of the card.

10% of my redeemed points

Another fantastic advantage of the Jetblue Plus card is that in each award ticket that summarizes, it will obtain 10% of those points as a loan for your Trueblue account. While frequent questions indicate that this will take four to six weeks, I usually see the refund publication in my account within a week after completing the trip.

Here is a list of how many points I returned during the last year of card membership:

  • October 2024: 1,610 points on a flight from PBI-LGA for my wife
  • December 2024: 1,780 points on a flight from LGA-PBI for me

If you make the calculations, I have maintained 3,390 points in my account simply carrying this card at the time of redemption, a savings of $ 46 (based on TPG valuations).

What makes this benefit even better is that it doesn’t matter who is really flying; At any time the points of the Trueblue account of the head of the main card are redeemed, the bonus will be applied. In addition, since I am also the main member of Trueblue in a group grouped, all the points I spend (including those provided by my wife and 10 -year -old daughter) are eligible for this reimbursement.

Free checked bag in blue rates

Last year, Jetblue updated its price for reviewed bags on national and short -distance international flights. Now, the first bag added at least 24 hours before the departure during the dates of the peak peak starts at $ 35. However, this can climb up to $ 50 if you wait until the check-in opens and travels on a maximum date.

But not for those with the Jetblue Plus card, since you and up to three colleagues in your reserve can obtain your first free bag for free.

This was really useful when traveling from the John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York in early April. We had a total of three bags reviewed while we flew home from a 10 -day vacation in the Philippines. I checked one, my wife reviewed one and my daughter checked one, for $ 0 from her pocket.

In addition, I also checked a bag on two flights that I took only from New York to Florida, one in October and another last month.

With those trips, that was five exemptions from bags from bags to controls, saving US $ 175.

50% discount on purchases on board

The fourth and last benefit that helps me to justify keeping the Jetblue Plus card is the 50% discount it offers in flight purchases, including alcoholic beverages and sandwiches to eat. This discount is automatically applied, generally the day the post public in your card account. I used this benefit twice during the last year:

  • October 2024: an Eatup box (savings of $ 5)
  • February 2025: two cans of wine (savings of $ 11)

Worth: $ 16

Total JetBlue Plus card value

So, given this activity, here are the totals for my last year of card membership:

  • Anniversary Point Bonus: $ 68
  • 10% of points back: $ 46
  • Revised bag: $ 175
  • Discounts on board: $ 16

When you add them, I enjoyed $ 305 of value only last year simply carrying the card in my wallet. When considering that the annual rate is only $ 99, it is clear that I get the value of my money.

Is the Jetblue Plus card suitable for you?

While the numbers make the card obvious to me, it is important to keep in mind that this analysis may not be so simple for others.

To start, I have many options to fly in Jetblue, with dozens of destinations without stopping three airports different at 90 minutes from my house. Readers in New York, Boston, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale have a comparably extensive route map.

Zach Griff/The Points Guy

However, many other airports have a much more limited service, including the following centers from other important transporters:

  • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL): Two non-stop destinations
  • Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT): destinations without stopping zero
  • O’Hare International Airport (Ord): Two destinations without stopping
  • Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW): a destination without stopping
  • Denver International Airport (DEN): Two non -scales destinations

The card cannot present such a strong value proposal if you live near any of these airports.

Finally, be sure to consider if the other advantages offer real value. If you only travel with a handbagIt will not obtain much value of the exemption of marked stock rate. And if you never make purchases on board, the 50% discount can also be irrelevant.

End

Each travel credit card attracts different traveler profiles, and for me, the Jetblue Plus card has offered a great value year after year. Based on my calculations, it is worth keeping the card on my wallet for the long -term race, although I am only taking some Jetblue flights every year.

While this card may not be the best for you, it is expected that this publication has given you a frame to use, since it evaluates whether it retains other cards beyond the first year.
