For travelers who want a relaxed cruising experience without the scale (or price) of today’s larger ships, Margaritaville at sea It is worth taking a closer look.
Founded in 2022 with a single ship, Margaritaville in the paradise of the seaThe line began with short Bahamas cruises from West Palm Beach, Florida, and quickly reinvented the ship with its relaxed, Jimmy Buffett-inspired aesthetic that Parrotheads have come to know and love.
In summer 2024, Margaritaville at Sea added a second ship, Margaritaville on Sea Islanderand at the beginning of 2027 it will launch its third ship: Margaritaville on the Beachcomber Sea. When Beachcomber debuts, Margaritaville at Sea will operate voyages to the Caribbean and the Bahamas from three Florida homeports: West Palm Beach, Tampa and Miami.
While the brand leans toward a fun, social atmosphere (as the song goes, “It’s five o’clock somewhere”), this is more relaxed than a traditional party-focused cruise line. People come to enjoy drinks and entertainment, but the experience is closer to the informality of Key West than the lively nightlife.
Here’s a closer look at what sets Margaritaville at Sea apart and why one of the line’s trips to the Caribbean should be in your future.
An ocean experience like no other.
One of the defining characteristics of Margaritaville at Sea is its focus on smaller ships. They may not be the size of today’s megaships, but they are still large enough to offer plenty of entertainment, dining options and laid-back adventures. The line has positioned itself as an alternative for travelers who don’t want the scale or pace of larger cruise ships, offering guests the freedom to relax and the space to explore.
The brand has placed an emphasis on outfitting its ships with live music, casual dining, and bars and social lounges. The line’s fun and whimsical décor can’t be confused with that of any other cruise line; represents bold island fun and tropical relaxation, all in one package that appeals to a wide variety of travelers seeking a joyful, stress-free cruising experience.
Overall, Margaritaville at Sea presents itself as delightfully laid-back, somewhere between high-energy mass-market lines and more laid-back premium brands.
The magic of Margaritaville
Much of Margaritaville at Sea’s appeal can be found in its uniquely themed entertainment, decor, and food and beverage offerings. The atmosphere on board leans towards a casual Caribbean vibe, with live music, themed events and social venues.

Margaritaville at Sea’s whimsical take on Jimmy Buffett’s classic tunes extends to its bars and lounges, as well as the special events held on each voyage, like the new “Hot neon nights“Party featuring drink specials, sparkly face paint, and a live DJ to dance the night away.
The line has also designed its own unique production shows, from “Caribbean Heat,” a show that mashes up hits from Rihanna, Pitbull, Bob Marley and more, to “Radio Margaritaville,” a live-action set with a DJ spinning tunes from the decades that pay homage to everything that is Margaritaville. Passengers can also experience “Conky Tonkin’ at Sea,” a country music-inspired production featuring a mix of classic and contemporary hits, along with high-energy choreography and stunts.
They’re even pushing the boundaries with their food and drink offerings. Their margaritas are perfect, as you’d expect, with clever concoctions that go far beyond the standard namesake drink everyone knows and loves. These include the Moneyline Margarita served in the ship’s casino; the Gingerbread Daisy; and even the Sparkling Margarita, an interesting concoction that combines tequila, lime, agave nectar and sparkling wine.
Margaritaville at Sea also introduced a new dining concept across its fleet in 2027. Known as High Tide Market, this unique venue replaces the standard cruise ship buffet with all-new dining concepts, including Frank & Lola’s Pizzeria, Mexican Cutie Cantina, Slice of Paradise for desserts and License to Chill Sandwich Shack. Best of all, everything is included in your cruise fare.
Unique coastal links

Margaritaville at Sea does not rely heavily on private island destinations. Instead, it focuses on established ports of call in the Bahamas, the Caribbean and the Florida Keys.
A notable claim to fame: Margaritaville offers tours in Nassau, Bahamas, allowing guests to kick back and relax in the Margaritaville Beach Resort Nassaulocated a five-minute walk from the cruise port.
The line also places a special emphasis on relaxation in its list of shore excursions. To that end, expect to see plenty of beach breaks, resort passes, and other options perfect for those who want to kick back, read a book, and relax with a drink in hand. There are also plenty of more active and adventurous excursions available if you’re so inclined, but the laid-back vibe of the Caribbean definitely translates to the line’s shore excursion program.
Plus, as a family cruise line, Margaritaville at Sea includes many shore excursions suitable for the whole family, including day passes to Margaritaville Beach Resort Nassau, which offers plenty of family fun with its pools, lazy river, and on-site dining options.
However, Margaritaville at Sea still wants you to see the authentic Caribbean, so each port of call offers local food, drinks, and customs. And as the line expands its presence to other parts of the Caribbean, that emphasis will only grow. You might not expect a value-oriented line to offer sailings to exotic ports of call like Aruba, Curacao, or Jamaica, but that’s exactly what Margaritaville at Sea offers. It’s more than you’d expect for a price that’s hard to beat in the Caribbean.
Caribbean-focused itineraries
Margaritaville at Sea offers several distinct itineraries that are geographically linked to each ship and its home port, from quick two-night getaways to extensive 10-day voyages to the heart of the Southern Caribbean.
- Margaritaville in the paradise of the sea departs West Palm Beach on two- to five-night voyages to The Bahamas, Key West and the Caribbean, including Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands; and Cozumel, Mexico.
- Margaritaville on Sea Islander Cruise four to 10 nights to the Caribbean from Tampa. Those looking for a longer cruise will also find it here. For example, cruisers can choose a spectacular 10-night voyage that departs from Tampa and sails to Aruba, Curacao, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and the Dominican Republic.
- Margaritaville on the Beachcomber Sea is based in the cruise capital of the world, Miami. From PortMiami, the ship will offer four- to eight-night cruises to the Bahamas and the Caribbean, including ports such as St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and even Bonaire and Aruba on select trips.
It’s hard to believe that the line began offering short, two-night sailings to Freeport, Bahamas, and back just a few years ago. Now, Margaritaville at Sea offers many options in the Caribbean, especially for those who want to spend more time in actual ports of call and less time on private islands.
Great deals at a great price.
Margaritaville at Sea is family friendly and strives to offer some of the best deals around. To that end, it frequently runs promotions for families and couples, making it one of the most affordable cruise experiences in the Caribbean.
While prices are competitive, the onboard experience focuses on offering great value. In fact, Margaritaville at Sea punches above its weight, earning rave reviews for its crews, ships, and rides. In an era where travel can quickly become expensive for almost everything, Margaritaville’s pricing structure is a refreshing change from what other cruise lines are doing in the Caribbean.
One of its most notable programs is the “Heroes sail free“, which offers complimentary cruise fares (taxes and fees apply) to active duty military, veterans, first responders and educators.
Unlike other cruise lines that sometimes run limited-time promotions for military members and first responders, Margaritaville’s “Heroes Sail Free” program is a staple of its brand identity. It is offered year-round on the company’s entire fleet of boats.
The idea behind the promotion is simple and reflects the spirit of Margaritaville at Sea: everyone deserves a vacation. As the line continues to grow, adding Margaritaville at Sea Beachcomber from PortMiami in 2027, Margaritaville at Sea is quickly becoming a major force to be reckoned with on the Caribbean cruise circuit.
