The Passengers of United Airlines faced the possibility of delays on Wednesday night after the carrier requested a stop at the ground nationwide due to a fault of IT.

The ground stop was requested around 6:15 pm and lasted approximately two hours. United issued a statement just after 10 pm is saying that the problem had been resolved.

United was dealing with the problem as a controllable delay, which means that it would cover certain expenses related to the delay for travelers. The “technology problem” affected a system that feeds information about flight times and weight and balance in the company’s other flight programs.

“We are working with customers to take them to their destinations after an interruption of technology on Wednesday night. The underlying technological problem has been resolved and, although we expect residual delays, our team is working to restore our normal operations,” said the airline.

At 10:30 pm est, flight tracking service FlightAware showed That a third of United’s main flights were staying behind, although that figure included flights before the land stop entered into force. Even so, the number of delays and cancellations for United was raised after the ground stop.

It is more possible, since United worked to recover teams and airplanes in time, but the lifting of the earth stop suggested that the worst had ended.

A “land stop” contains flights on the floor so that arrivals do not go back to an airport that experiences a problem such as the bad weather or other event that restricts the flights that arrive. In some cases, an airline will request a land stop if you are experiencing an operational problem, which seems to have been the case of United tonight.
