United Airlines hopes that their Greenland flights will resume on Saturday after the problems at the main airport of the territory led a handful of flight cancellations in multiple airlines, and dozens stranded of passengers in the Arctic destination.
Nuuk International Airport (GOH) in the capital city of Greenland temporarily stopped all international flights on Wednesday in the midst of concerns about the training of security personnel.
The news of the interruption led United to turn a plane that was heading to Nuuk at that time. That plane landed at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), said a Chicago -based airline spokesman, confirming a previous report of one mile at the same time.
United finally canceled both that flight to the north and a flight back from Nuuk to Newark that had been scheduled for Wednesday.
