where to eat and drink

Austin is home to amazing locally owned coffee shops, restaurants, bars, and food activities that are worth your attention while you’re in town.
Be sure to hit Praxis Coffee Roasters (has a location on the east side and south side), where you can get coffee sourced directly from farms around the world. You must try the Honey Lavender Latte – it uses local honey and organic lavender. Jo’s Coffee Sur Congress It’s also a great option for those in downtown Austin, and Summer Moon is a unique Austin-based chain with multiple locations.
There are literally too many fantastic restaurants to list them all here, but one of TPG’s favorites is definitely Odd Duck. Serving an eclectic and delicious dinner menu that pays homage to the city’s “Keep Austin Weird” spirit with entrees like braised goat pizza and antelope tataki. Be sure to save room for dessert, so you can try the Oatmeal Ice Cream Pie—Odd Duck’s take on the classic Southern cold dessert.

- LeRoy and Lewis It’s great if you’re looking for a fresh take on Texas barbecue. He even sources his meats from local butchers.
- jeffrey’s It’s a locally owned steakhouse that people rave about.
After a meal, hit small victory in downtown Austin for intimate cocktails and conversation, or The Roosevelt Room for an exclusive atmosphere. If you’re looking for a more traditional honky tonk vibe, check out The white horse.
If you’re in the mood for a tasting experience, try Antonelli Cheese. You can sign up for a guided tasting of a full meal of artisanal cheeses expertly blended for the perfect bite. It has a full online events calendar where you can sign up for a standard tasting or a special event; Just be sure to book early as spaces fill up quickly!

Of course, there’s more to the city than just food and drink.
