How to book the Kimpton Riverplace

A King or Queen Studio suite, like the one I stayed, can be reserved for around $ 180- $ 200 per night, depending on the time of the year. Summer is the busiest travel season for Portland, so it expects higher rates and a lower availability from May to September.

A spacious and cozy room

My room had a queen bed that was very comfortable and clean. I am quite demanding with cleaning when it comes to the hotel’s bedding, and I have to say that this is one of the cleanest hotel beds where I slept.

The room came with a minibar, but prices are quite expensive for what is offered, so I do not recommend selecting anything from there.

The work counter was great, but there were no points of sale available to it, so I ended up working on my bed. A sofa was placed at the foot of the bed. I didn’t sit on him for too long, but my dog, Koda, found him comfortable enough to sleep.

The bathroom was clean and equipped with the essential. Tunics were included in the hotel room closet, along with a safe, yoga mats, an umbrella and a luggage stand. The lighting in the room was soft, giving it a cozy feeling. That said, the room was a bit on the dark side, especially since I stayed during the Portland rainy season.

My point of view was nothing spectacular; Everything I could see from my window was the opposite side of the building. That said, you can book a room with a river view, or you can expect a view of the city.

A hotel that received the seal of approval of my dog

In a very important question: did my dog ​​find the acceptable stay? While initially I was insecure of being in a new place, he quickly warmed up in the room we had and enjoyed his time. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived, offering a large dog cookie to occupy it while I registered. A small inclusion but much appreciated at the reception was a hook to watch the Koda strap, releasing, releasing, releasing, releasing, releasing my hands while handling the check-in process.

In our room, there was a welcome pack for Koda, which was sweet. It included a bowl bowl, waste bags, several dog treats, a small stuffed squirrel and a bed. The bed was too small for him, but tried to work anyway.

Koda finally decided that his bed would be better as a chewing toy than as a place to sleep, so the bed spent the rest of our trip in the closet. If your dog is not a chewer of power like mine, I am sure that the bed will work well for them.

There is ample space in front of the hotel to walk your dog. The area is well illuminated at night, so I felt perfectly comfortable on our night walks. If you want to give a longer walk with your dog, Tom McCall Waterfront Park offers an extensive road to walk.

The Kimpton Riverplace requires that pets be contained when they are not in the room with them, so I brought an emerging travel box to accommodate. I recommend carrying a travel water plate, since the hotel only provides a dish for its stay.

The hotel appreciates the previous notice for guests who bring a pet with them so they can make sure they have a friendly pet room and the welcome comforts that I mentioned earlier.

Dine on the Kimpton River

All meals at the Kimpton Riverplace are located at the hotel restaurant, King Tide Fish & Shell, where I had dinner for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant atmosphere was very relaxed, which made it an ideal place to start or end on vacation day.

First of all, I have to pay tribute to truffle fries. They were certainly some of the best truffle fries that I have had. They were seasoned experts, cooked correct and very tasty. I recommend them absolutely; You can get them as a stop with selected dinner and lunch dishes, or you can ask the letter for $ 12.

For dinner I ate fish and chips, with a fairly reasonable price of $ 26. The fish was well mistreated and well seasoned. For lunch, I opted for a fried chicken sandwich for $ 16. It was a quite executed chicken sandwich. However, he gave me another chance to eat his truffle fries, and that’s why I am grateful.

For my two breakfasts, I had the restaurant’s wild fungus tortilla ($ 18) and Brioche French Toast ($ 16). Both were pleasant, particularly the French toast, which presented strawberries, bananas and nuts, with the fair amount of sweetness.

As for the drinks, with my dinner I tried The Honey Smash ($ 15), which I enjoyed. I combined my lunch with a mimous passion fruit of $ 13, of which I was not a great admirer. At breakfast, I asked for hot chocolate ($ 6) twice. His experience can vary here since one of my hot chocolates was fantastic, while the other was mediocre at best.

The restaurant has large seats, especially during breakfast and lunch hours. Sitting quickly should not be a problem unless visiting dinner during the maximum travel time.

The gym at the Kimpton Riverplace

Gym facilities in Kimpton Riverplace are standard. You will not find any special physical conditioning equipment there, but you will have access to enough for a decent training. Water is available in the gym in case you need to fill in an average water bottle job.

I didn’t use any of the equipment while I was there, but everything seemed clean and in operation.

A good feature was a bowl bowl at the gym entrance. While most people probably have wireless headphones, if their headphones need to load or forget at home, having access to free headphones is a good comfort.

Reasons why Kimpton Riverplace may not be for you

While the Kimpton Riverplace is located near the center of Portland, it will still need to walk for about five minutes to reach it. If you need or want to be directly inside the city center, another hotel is a better option for you.

If a hotel with a variety of services is what you are looking for, the Kimpton Riverplace is not your best choice. While the restaurant wins my approval and the hotel gym is standard, there is nothing notable apart from that. There is no spa, pool or other characteristic to talk about.

Accessibility

The hotel is well illuminated and the elevators are close to the reception area. The Kimpton Riverplace website indicates that all its rooms have friendly communication equipment available, including a pillow, alert of the door and a visual smoke detector.

Two types of rooms for guests with accessibility needs are offered. One is a King studio with an accessible bathtub, while the other is its Bunkalow suite with a rolled shower. The hotel website mentions that King Studio has an open life space, which should facilitate navigation with a wheelchair.

As for the standard rooms, I think my queen room could be accessible to someone with mild to moderate accessibility problems. The bathroom came equipped with a standard bathtub, so I advise you to use it as a metric by deciding whether to book a normal room or one of the accessible rooms of the hotel.

Braille signaling can be found throughout the hotel, and hotel employees are available to read menus and provide additional visual information for those who need it. The Kimpton Riverplace advises calling for anticipation and informing them about their accessibility needs so that they can be ready to accommodate it upon arrival.

The payment was very easy in this hotel. I was able to make a virtual payment responding to a text with my email. The process took every two minutes, so it is an excellent option for anyone who needs to quickly visit a flight.

The Kimpton Riverplace was a comfortable and clean place to spend my stay in two nights, and was up to his friendly reputation with pets. If I ever need a hotel in the Portland area, I am definitely open to return to this property.
