Frontier first class seats to debut in early 2026

Frontier Airlines expects to begin installing its new first-class seats shortly after the start of the new year, the airline told TPG this week.

It will be the first truly premium seat the budget airline has ever offered, and a major change for an airline long known for its no-frills inflight experience.

It’s also a bit late.

Border announced plans for the first time to launch a truly world-class product a year ago this week. At the time, CEO Barry Biffle he told TPG The airline expected to begin installing the seats in September and add them to its planes over a two-month period.

But on last month’s earnings conference call, Biffle told analysts that the Denver-based airline expected a full first class launch to occur in spring 2026.

The entire global airline industry has been hit by delays in the seat supply chain, so it’s no surprise that Frontier missed the original deadline to introduce the new cabin-forward product.

Still, the fact that travelers will see the new lie-flat seats on board their Airbus A320 and A321 planes in the coming months should be an attractive new development for both passengers and the airline.

Frontier hopes to ride a premium wave that customers have become more willing to embrace in recent years. pay more for high-end products.

The airline sources its new first class seats from Italian seat manufacturer Geven. as first announced last spring. Once the airline’s first class rollout is complete, these seats are expected to occupy the first two rows of every Frontier aircraft.

Frontier plans to offer free first-class upgrades with space available for new seats to members of its Frontier Miles loyalty program who achieve Gold status or higher.
