It is becoming an annual tradition. Every February or March, Hyatt world announce Your annual category changes approximately one month before implementing them. As soon as Hyatt launches the list of category changes, the loyal ones, including myself, carefully examine the list To see if the properties we love or hope to visit eventually will require more or less points for a stay.
Every year, some travelers lament the decrease in the World of Hyatt program after the category change announcement. But, as director of TPG Carly Helfand In addition, while I argued this year’s changes: “I notice at least one in which I enjoyed staying that is becoming cheaper, which also does it a little more bearable. This time is the Lodge & Spa trash, it is a very good option in the country of wine.”
Like Carly, I also look through the list to find attractive properties that will eliminate a category. In addition, although the points of points have increased significantly over the years for some properties, I think there is still a lot of value to redeem Hyatt points. Here is why.
Hyatt still has a prize table
Over the years, many loyalty programs have moved to Dynamic prize prices. Dynamic awards prices are not inherently bad, but generally leads to the points or miles of the program that eventually decrease in value. And it almost always makes obtaining a huge value of its rewards more difficult.
The excellent news is that Hyatt did not decide to eliminate or change its awards this year. World of Hyatt knows that its awards list is a differentiator, especially when competing against programs with larger footprints.
Since World of Hyatt uses an awards table, you can predict how much you will need to redeem for the next stays. In addition, having a prize table means that you can often escape the maximum prices during events or high season.

World of Hyatt uses maximum, standard and out of peak prices for each category, but I have reserved many more award nights outside the peak than the maximum awards nights. The difference between award and peak award rates is also minimal: only 3,000 points for Hyatt category 1 properties6,000 points for Hyatt Category 4 Properties and 10,000 points for Hyatt Properties Category 7. Even once you consider Hyatt Points, it is worth much more than most other hotel points, this is a less significant difference than you will find in most other hotel loyalty programs.
However, I hope you continue to see Hyatt bring selected brands and properties to dynamic award rates, as we saw with Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Las Vegas Venetian Resort. If this is what Hyatt needs to do to maintain an awards table for most of its properties, I will not worry. If I choose to stay in these properties, I will opt for GAN HYATT POINTS instead of redeeming them.

The annual update of the Hyatt awards category is reasonable
Let’s be honest: it is reasonable that World of Hyatt updates the category of awards for some of its properties once a year.
Of course, it has been sad to see that some properties slowly upload in the category every year. And personally I am discouraged to see that the only category 1 Park Hyatt, the Park Hyatt Chennai – Finally, it will go to category 2. But as the occupation, the average daily rates and other factors change for a property, it is only reasonable that its category changes.
I also appreciate how Hyatt handles its annual category changes, especially as many other loyalty programs make devaluations without notification. Hyatt generally announces their scheduled category changes approximately one month before they enter into force, so members have a lot of time to accumulate Hyatt points and reserve any final stay they wish to current awards rates. In addition, Hyatt reimburses points for any reservation that falls in the awards category between when reserves and when it stays.
In summary, if we want the World of Hyatt program to maintain its awards cadres, we must accept that the properties will sometimes change the categories. Hyatt announces and manages these category changes in the best possible way, what I appreciate.

Hyatt points are still extremely valuable
TPG February 2025 Valuations PIG The value of Hyatt points in 1.7 cents each. However, I personally believe that this assessment is incredibly conservative, since I have obtained an average of 3.91 cents per point when Hyatt Redeemer points For stays in the last year.
Three properties to which I have exchanged Hyatt points within the last year will increase in the category on March 25: Lindner Hotel Praga Castle, Hyatt Centric The Liberties Dublin and Hyatt Place Frankfurt Airport. Interestingly, none of these properties gave me an average Redemption rate When I stayed.
For example, this February, I redeemed 40,000 points for an eight night stay at Lindner Hotel Praga Castle that would otherwise have cost $ 1,124. This meant that I obtained a modest redemption rate of 2.81 cents per point. However, once this property moves to category 2, it would need to redeem 64,000 points for the same stay. This would reduce my redemption rate to 1.75 cents per point, just above the TPG assessment in February 2025 of the Hyatt points.
The good news is that all my highest exchange rates in the last year were in properties that are not changing in the category on March 25, such as the Lindner Hotel Cologne AM Dom, Hyatt Place Austin Airport, Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa and Hyatt Place Dallas / Las Colinas. And I have reserved some excellent refunds by the end of this year in South Africa and Sweden that will give me more than five cents per Hyatt point.
Therefore, although it can find that these changes in the category decrease their rate of redemption in some properties, I suspect that it will still obtain good exchange rates in general. This is particularly true if you are willing to occasionally reserve rates paid in World of Hyatt Properties or Use another program for some stays. I still see World of Hyatt as one of the best Chase Ultimate Rewards Transfer Partners. And I suspect that I will eventually transfers my Bilt rewards He points to World of Hyatt, especially if we ever see a Hyatt transfer bonus in a BILT RENTAL DAY.

End
One year, a TPG employee proclaimed that his Hyatt’s free certificates felt almost useless After the annual category change announcement. It is certainly allowed to feel like that, but I do not agree at that time and I do not agree now. I still get a wide value when redeeming the world of Hyatt points and Free night certificates.
Get your awards reservations before March 25 at current rates for any property that is jumping a category. But also take time to consider what properties you want to exchange Hyatt points this year. For example, I am considering all the properties that I fear could increase in the category. This year it seems a good time to visit, as they could go up in the category next year.
