Delta Air Lines upped its premium game this week with the reveal of new business class suites that will become their future Delta One product.
But many more of its planes are getting a new onboard look, one that will see the airline say goodbye to the “enchanted blue” seats that have been around for almost 30 years.
The Atlanta-based airline said this week that it plans to bring its renovated cabin to more than 800 aircraft over the next five years, including new aircraft and aircraft that Delta plans to refurbish.
Once completed, those cabins will sport darker navy blue seats with touches of red, a celestial sky design, new ambient lighting, and the Delta widget that will be displayed more prominently.
TPG I first saw a preview of the design. about 15 months ago on an Airbus A350-900, at the time a new plane that was Delta’s first with the updated aesthetic.

As of this week, the airline told TPG it has 18 planes with the new cabin design:
- Six A350s
- Eight Airbus A321neo
- Three Boeing 767-300s (one of which is currently receiving the final modernization touches)
- A Boeing 757-200
However, many more new-look aircraft are expected to be seen in the coming years, between new deliveries and modernized existing aircraft.
This refresh is more cosmetic, although customers will see upgraded seat cushions on some aircraft, most notably the 757.

Additionally, Delta is switching from leatherette seats to cloth seats in business class, which the airline says makes the Delta One sleeping experience more comfortable.
These changes come on top of much larger revisions to other aircraft. For example, there is the cabin renovation from nose to tail planned for the older Airbus A330-200 and -300, which will feature authentic Delta One suites for the first time, not to mention onboard cafes.

Meanwhile, the airline will receive new types of aircraft in the coming years; This includes the Airbus A350-1000, which will debut in 2027, and the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners that Delta ordered in January.
In all, many changes are expected on Delta aircraft in the coming years.
