Citi is launching a new premium rewards card. This is how I hope it is different from other high -end cards.

Citi is an advertising partner of TPG.

The year 2025 is emerging to be for premium rewards cards. And as a fan of these products, I love competition.

First, the CHASE SAPPHIRE Reserve® (see rates and rates) underwent Transformation from top to bottomAnd Chase also launched his First Premium visiting card – he Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ (see rates and rates). We also know that American Express Platinum Card® is on the edge of Undergo your own update At the end of this year, and that Bilt Rewards has just announced that he will offer a variety of new three-level cards- including a premium card.

If you keep the account and love these cards and their advantages as much as I can ask what Citi could have under the sleeve, since the other main actors actively compete for the wallet space in the lucrative premium card market.

Thanks to the recent call of Citi profits, we now have at least one clue about its next movement.

Citi will launch a new premium rewards credit card

At some point this quarter (so that by September 30), Citi will launch a new premium credit card, the Citi Strata EliteAccording to the comments made in the Profit call of July 15 of the Bank.

It is said that the new Citi Strata Elite card joins the Citi Rewards Products Group at some point in the coming months to attract “rich customers.” So, although Citi has not shared the exact annual rate that will come with this card, it is sure to assume that it is likely to be in the range of annual rates of other premium cards, which are now largely in the range of approximately $ 400- $ 800.

And although no details about the benefits of the card were published, we do know that this is not Citi’s first incursion into the world of premium rewards credit cards.

Looking for Citi’s premium past to inform his future

He Citi Prestige® cardThat is no longer available for new applicants, it is a premium card that wins the Citi Thankyou rewards. It was available until 2021, although existing card holders have been able to keep it in their wallets.

It has some categories of rewarding bonds, such as 5 points per dollar spent on aerial tickets, restaurants and travel agencies, offers a good free advantage of the fourth hand of the night, an annual membership of travel credit and priority pass of $ 250.

While the card certainly had its fans, especially those who could maximize that free hotel-hotel-noch benefit, it lac Citi thanks rewards line up.

The information for the Citi Prestige and Citi Strata Elite card has been independently collected by the type of points. The details of the card on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

What I hope to see of the new Citi Premium credit card

Naturally, as with any new credit card, I expect a large welcome bonus. As a reference, the average bank level $ 95 per year Citi Strata Premier® (see rates and rates) currently offers 60,000 points with $ 4,000 in expenses in the first three months, so I hope that the bonus of this new card arrives higher than that.

But beyond that, I will love some unique bonus categories that are no longer offered in the long list of other rewards cards. For example, the last thing I need is another card that offers 2 or 3 bonus points per dollar spent on dinners and trips.

To help compensate for the annual rate, I would like to see a limited number of high -value but easy -to -use credits that do not require much thought and effort (as in, not a complicated approach to “coupons book”).

And although it could be a difficult task, I would really love that Citi now approaches some of the gaps that had the last time he had a patented premium rewards card.

Namely, it would be great to see that the card offers some type of room access and/or unique transfer partners that are difficult or impossible to replicate elsewhere. Access to new or additional airport halls, and even Garbage younger brothers – It is always great news, so I would love to see Citi offer unique access to the living room beyond the priority pass benefit with its previous premium card.

In addition, the Citi Thankyou Rewards program itself is a step behind competitors, especially for those who like to rely on airlines and hotels programs based in the US. UU. TPG in July 2025 Valuations Make Citi appreciate the rewards points in 1.85 cents per point, which places it behind Chase Ultimate Rewards, American Express Membership Rewards and Bilt Rewards. The vast majority of their partners also work with other banks.

There was a brief time in time when Citi had American Airlines as a transfer partnerand the bank promoted its “wonderful relationship” with American Airlines in its recent gain call. In addition, a Citi spokesman offered TPG the following statement in December 2024, when it was announced that the bank would become the Exclusive Ener of American Cobrandy Cards (Our emphasis):

“The expansion and extension of our relationship with American Airlines will positively affect our existing and new client base as we introduce new products and benefits in the future and produce the extended loyalty and rewards offers for the members of AADVANTAGE® and members of the appointment card. We are not sharing details at this time. Stay tuned.”

Finally, the implementation of some type of unique hotel benefit or a new travel benefit that other premium rewards cards that they do not offer would also help create a differentiated space for the Citi Strata Elite.

End

Citi is preparing to launch a new premium card, the Citi Strata elite, at some point in the coming months. The details are scarce, but given the previous premium product of the issuer, we have hopes based on how the card could forge its own niche in the premium hot card space.

Be attentive to TPG, where we will update it as soon as more details are available.
