American Airlines confirms that espressos are back and have also been added to business class
American Airlines confirmed to TPG that one of our favorite Flagship First benefits is back, and it’s rolling out to Flagship Business as well.
Espresso drinks have returned on some American Airlines flights.
Passengers can now order specialty coffee drinks prepared in a real espresso machine on some of AA’s aircraft on international flights and also on premium transcontinental flights. The news was first reported in X by @xJonNYC and reported by one mile at a time.
The airline offers espresso drinks on Boeing 777-200 aircraft for the first time. Traditionally, American Airlines only offered espresso drinks in its true first class cabins on Airbus A321T and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which are equipped with Flagship First and Flagship Business seats. Offer drinks from espresso machines on more planes and to many more passengers.
Espressos are now also available on American’s Boeing 787s.
The airline suspended espresso service during the COVID-19 pandemic and had previously not offered it to business class passengers. It is now on Boeing 777-200, Boeing 777-300, 787 and A321T aircraft; It is also available in business class.

The ability to order a stronger dose of caffeine was one of my favorite features in first class. I’m very excited to now be able to do it in business class as well.
It’s nice to see additional service touches being added as we look forward to new cabins from American coming soon. The airline is eliminating its first-class cabin in favor of a revamped business-class cabin, one that will increase the number of premium seats, on all Boeing aircraft. 777-300ER airplane. Soon it will also receive Airbus. A321XLR with new Flagship Business cabins.
