

Alaska Airlines is moving forward with plans to expand the long-term flight from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea) with a request for five more Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
The Oneworld Alliance aircraft carrier, based in Seattle, exercised the purchase rights for five additional 787-9 of the Hawaiian Airlines orders, said Larry Payne, president of the Master Executive Council of Hawaiian Airlines in the Association of Air Line Pilots (ALPA) Alaska Pilot Podcast On Wednesday. That carries the total firm commitments of Alaska for the long -distance plane to 13 aircraft, plus four already in the fleet, depending on its last fleet plan at the end of March.
In addition, Alaska plans to open a Hawaiiana 787 Pilot Base in Seattle in March 2026, and exercised additional boeing options 737 Max 10s, Payne said.

“I think, in general, this is the first phase in what we are seeing with the company executing its promise of growth as a result of the merger,” said Will Mcquillen, president of the Master Executive Council of Alaska Airlines in Alpa, in the podcast with Payne.
An Alaska spokesman did not respond to a comment request.
