Guide to the Atmos Rewards Global Companion Award

There are several reasons why the Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® Credit Card earned the coveted title of TPG’s new favorite personal credit card of 2025, and the Global Companion Award is one of the most important.

Among the card’s set of benefits, the accompanying prize stands out for both its simplicity and its potential value. Used strategically, it can generate substantial savings, particularly on high-cost international flights or premium cabin award flights.

Whether you already have the card in your wallet or are considering applying, here’s what you need to know about the Atmos Summit Global Companion Award.

What is the Global Companion Award?

The Global Companion Award is an exclusive benefit of the Atmos Rewards Summit which allows cardholders to reduce the point cost of a companion award ticket when booking two seats on Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and eligible Oneworld partner airlines.

Each cardholder anniversary, cardholders receive a Global Companion award of 25,000 points. Those who spend $60,000 or more in a cardholder year can earn a second prize worth 100,000 points.

According to TPG March 2026 ratingsthe 25,000 point prize is worth $375 and the 100,000 point prize is worth $1,500. Taxes and fees still apply when redeeming any of the rewards.

When booking two award tickets, the certificate automatically discounts the companion’s ticket by 25,000 or 100,000 Atmos Rewards Points (depending on the prize you are using). This can make the benefit especially valuable on expensive international or business class itineraries.

Global Companion awards are always valid for 12 months from issuance. As long as you book your ticket before the expiration date, your trip can be made after the year.

How do I win the Global Companion award?

Obtaining the benefit is simple:

  • 25,000 point prize: Automatically issued each cardholder anniversary
  • 100,000 point prize: Earned after spending $60,000 or more on purchases within one cardholder year

Each reward is deposited into your Atmos Rewards account and can be redeemed for travel on Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and eligible Oneworld partner airlines.

How do I use the Global Companion award?

You can apply the Global Companion award to new award bookings on Alaska, Hawaii or eligible partner airlines.

This is how it works:

  1. Look for award availability for two passengers.
  2. Select your flights.
  3. At checkout, the companion award will be automatically applied and will deduct the second ticket.

For example, let’s say a one-way award from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Haneda Airport (HND) in Tokyo costs 35,000 Atmos Rewards points. You would pay the full 35,000 points for the first ticket, but then if you claim a 25,000-point Global Companion award, the second ticket would cost only 10,000 points (plus taxes and fees).

Just keep in mind that you must pay taxes, fees, and any applicable surcharges with your Atmos Rewards Summit.

Before you book, there are a few other key rules you’ll want to keep in mind:

  • You cannot use the 25,000 point and 100,000 point awards on the same reservation.
  • The cardholder does not have to be the one traveling: you can book for any two passengers.
  • Reward must be applied at time of booking and cannot be added to an existing reservation.
  • You must book before the award expires (usually within 12 months of issuance), although travel may occur later.
  • You can cancel and rebook, as long as the prize has not expired.

What if the ticket costs more or less than the Global Companion Award?

If the companion ticket costs more than 25,000 or 100,000 points (depending on which Global Companion award you are using), you can use additional Atmos Rewards points to cover the difference at checkout.

If the ticket costs less than the value of your prize, you will forfeit any unused portion. For that reason, it usually makes more sense to use your Global Companion Award on itineraries that cost at least the full value of the certificate; although it is still preferable to use it on a lower cost ticket than to leave the prize unused.

In a nutshell

The Global Companion Award is one of the most attractive features of the Atmos Rewards Summit. By reducing (or even eliminating in some cases) the points cost of a second ticket, tremendous value can be generated in premium or long distance redemptions.

For award-winning frequent travelers, especially those who book international flights, the 25,000-point annual award alone can go a long way toward offsetting the card’s annual fee. The 100,000 point award can be exceptionally valuable, although maximizing it requires higher-cost redemptions and a significant annual spend.

As always, it’s worth crunching your own numbers, but for the right traveler, this benefit can be a powerful tool to get even more out of Atmos Rewards points.
