The long-awaited, or perhaps feared, world of the Hyatt Changes to the prize table are now in effect.. On May 20, the popular hotel loyalty program moved from a three-tier redemption pricing model to a five-tier redemption pricing model with significantly higher rates on the new Upper and Top dates.
The program gave members several months’ notice of upcoming changes, allowing travelers block reservations with existing rates – and revealed the new prize table and which properties would change categories. What we didn’t know until May 20 was how many nights at each property would be included in each of the new award pricing tiers.
For example, some travelers feared that all previous peak nights would shift to peak prices, making award nights significantly more expensive. But now we can say definitively how the changes affected the award prices in some of the Best Hyatt Hotels and Resortsincluding how many future dates are included in each of the five new award pricing tiers.
To obtain this information, TPG partnered with Gondola (a free hotel search and direct booking platform for frequent travelers) to analyze thousands of data points from 19 popular Hyatt properties around the world across multiple categories. Through this analysis, we can compare how many nights there are in each price tier before and after May 20 and how much your Hyatt points are now worth at these properties. The results may surprise you, so let’s delve deeper.

How did the May 20 Hyatt award chart changes affect average award rates?
Redemption rates were previously divided into three price tiers (off-peak, standard, and peak) and are now divided into five price tiers (lowest, lowest, moderate, premium, and premium).
We calculated the average cost of points per night before and after the changes at 19 of our favorite Hyatt properties by counting all available standard room award rates over a year and dividing them by the number of nights with standard award availability.

Excluding the three properties that were upgraded at the same time the new pricing was introduced, these popular properties will now cost you 10% more Hyatt points than they did before May 20, which is a fairly slight devaluation compared to how Some other loyalty programs increase fees, often without notice..

How have changes to Hyatt’s award chart affected average redemption rates?
Gondola also captures cash rates for Hyatt properties over the course of a year, which is a great way to see what value you’re getting from your Hyatt points. As a reminder, TPG valued World of Hyatt points at 1.65 cents in our Ratings May 2026 which we published before these Hyatt changes were implemented.
Here’s a look at the changes in average cash rates before and after May 20 in the Hyatt awards chart at the same 19 hotels. You’ll also find the average cents per point for award stays in standard rooms before and after the changes in the chart below.

The numbers show that at these 19 favorite properties, you’ll receive less value from your Hyatt points under the new pricing structure than under the old one. But if you exclude the three properties that upgraded on May 20, you can still get a valuation close to our May 2026 World of Hyatt points valuation. Also, keep in mind that these 19 properties may not be representative of the entire World of Hyatt portfolio.

How many nights are there in each price level before and after the changes?
We were also interested in how many nights there would be each year in each tier based on the new five-tier pricing, especially given the higher award rates in the Superior and Superior tiers.
If most nights on the calendar suddenly jumped from Standard in the pre-May 20 award price to Upper or Top in the new award price, that would be cause for concern and a big devaluation. Fortunately, that’s not what we’re seeing in the properties we consider. (Since Hyatt has different tiers for its all-inclusive properties, we’ve left those three hotels here.)

In fact, the data shows that there are very few nights with the new, more expensive Top price, and even the slightly cheaper Upper price does not appear frequently. For most properties, the previous maximum price largely changes to the new moderate rates, which carry about the same cost of points in most categories.
Grand Hyatt Kauai, Grand Hyatt Vail, and Andaz Prague are the three properties on our list that have the most nights moved to the Upper and/or Top prices.

In a nutshell
World of Hyatt’s new five-tier rewards chart increased the cost of redemptions at 19 popular properties by about 10%, but the scale of the change varies considerably by portfolio. The good news is that the more expensive top tier prices are applied sparingly and, for most properties, what was previously the top price has largely migrated to Moderate rather than the new Superior band.
In the 19 properties that we analyzed with Gondolaaverage point values have fallen to 1.57 cents, below TPG’s May 2026 valuation of 1.65 cents per World of Hyatt points. Still a respectable performance in the right ownership.
The program retains great value, and savvy members who compare the calendar will find that most of what made World of Hyatt a great loyalty program still remains.
Gondola is a free hotel search and direct booking platform for frequent travelers, making it easy to compare cash and points rates across brands while earning up to 7% extra cash back.
