Delta Amex Cards: Check Two Bags Free on US Domestic Flights

Delta and American Express They’re improving a perk on most of their co-branded cards that’s sure to make loyal travelers happy.

All Delta Amex personal and business cardholders paying a annual fee now get a second complimentary checked luggage on US domestic flights. This means that all Delta Amex cards, except the no annual fee Delta SkyMiles® Blue American Express Card (see rates and fees) — carries the new benefit.

This change is being implemented along with a new ride sharing benefit in it Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card and the Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Cardas well as updated card designs throughout the pack and elevated welcome bonus offers for new cardholders.

Second checked bag free on most Delta cards

The following cards now unlock up to two free checked bags for the cardholder (and up to eight companions) traveling on the same reservation (the first bag is free worldwide and the second on US domestic flights):

Delta Air Lines, along with many other US airlines, including american airlines, JetBlue and united airlines – has elevated checked bag rates this year amid higher operating costs.

Since Delta’s changes went into effect in early April, it now costs $45 each way to check your first bag and $55 for a second checked bag. That means most Delta Amex cards (except Blue) now offer up to $100 off baggage fees per passenger on U.S. domestic flights when you check two bags.

This is a positive change for Delta frequent flyers with a co-branded card — especially the Delta Gold and Delta Business Gold cards, each of which charges a $0 introductory annual fee for the first year (then $150 each year thereafter).*^

New ridesharing benefit on Delta Gold and Delta Business Gold

There is more good news in store for gold delta and Delta Business Gold cardholders.

Upon account renewal, these cards now include up to $10 monthly rideshare credit with select U.S. rideshare providers (up to $120 per calendar year; enrollment required).

The ride-sharing benefit was already available on the other four cards that charge an annual fee. Amex is now extending it to personal and business Delta Gold cards.

Please note that both new and existing cardholders will have access to credit after their first anniversary. Be sure to enroll in the benefit to receive the credit.

New card designs

All of Delta’s co-branded cards have undergone an aesthetic change, as Amex is releasing a completely new design for all cards in the set.

The previous colors have been replaced with new shades and a slightly modified graphic design.

The most notable change is the removal of the plum purple card art for the Delta Reserve and Delta Business Reserve cards; These top-tier Delta cards are now slate gray.
