Book now: Thompson Rome opens reservations for May 2026

If Rome is on the horizon for your summer 2026 travel plans, stop what you’re doing and make reservations at the Thompson Rome. Well located near Piazza Venezia and the Pantheon, the property can now be booked from May 31, 2026, according to the hotel website.

You may remember that TPG added the Thompson Rome to our List of the “most interesting hotel openings of 2025”. As is common with many new hotel projects, the opening date has been postponed, but Hyatt says it will now welcome guests to the 69-room Category 8 property in late May.

Thompson is one of my favorite Hyatt brands, especially the Thompson Madrid and The Cape, a Thompson hotel. Their hotels are located in beautiful buildings with their own style, but then they are equipped with all the modern touches you would expect from a luxury brand. The design sensibility tends to be masculine with warm earth tones and comfortable, club-style furniture.

While Thompson Hotels has a small footprint (19 properties, including Thompson Rome and Thompson Shanghai Expo, which will also open soon), it’s worth having on your radar.

Thompson Rome itself has a storied history, as it was once the national headquarters of the Communist Party of Italy. Today, its standout feature will soon be its glorious rooftop bar on the seventh floor, where guests will find 360-degree views of the Eternal City.

The Thompson Rome also has an exclusive restaurant and bar, as well as a gym.

You can book standard rooms with a king or queen bed. Junior suites are available with and without terrace. There is also an interesting suite with two single beds, fantastic for friends traveling together.

Finally, the location on Via delle Botteghe Oscure is fantastic, especially for first-time visitors to Rome. In less than a mile, you can walk to the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Piazza di Spagna and Castel Sant’Angelo, and St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City is just 1.28 miles from the hotel.
