I am always looking for the best ways to exchange my points and miles with so much effort, and with so many changes and devaluations of the program, it can take a long time.
But Finnair PlusFinnair loyalty program, recently caught my attention. In May 2024, the program Adopted aviosthe same currency used by Aer Lingus, British airways, Iberia and Qatar Airways.
More than 90% of my reimbursements are for Premium cabin tickets, so finding Sweet spots O Programs with optimal rates is the best way to maximize my rewards.
Here are some reasons why I am considering Plus for future premium cabin reimbursements.
Ability to reserve air tickets before most Oneworld programs
The best way to reserve awards seats, especially for premium cabins, is to reserve as much anticipated.
This translates into knowing when airlines open award seats because even a few days can make a difference between hooking a premium seat in the first or executive class or getting lost completely. I usually travel with my family, so finding three tickets on the same flight is a challenge.
Here is a look at some Frequent Brochures of Oneworld Airline and approximately when they open their schedule for award tickets.
Finnair Plus opens awards seats 361 days in advance, exceeding programs commonly used as British Airways Club, American Airlines Aadvantage and Alaska Mileage Plan.
It is important to keep in mind that for the partner awards, you must account for the calendars of the airline with which it is flying as the program of the airline with which you are reserving.

For example, when you search through Finnair Plus, you can see the 361 days awards, but if you are looking to buy an American Airlines flight, the Aadvantage program only allows you to book 331 days in advance. Then, in this case, you must wait until you have 331 days to reserve an American Airlines prize ticket with Finnair Plus.
I am a great admirer of the Aadvantage program, and one of my favorite refunds is to reserve the executive class of the west coast of the United States to Tokyo in Jal for 60,000 miles or first class for 80,000 miles.

When looking for availability of commercial class awards for JAL through Aadvantage, the calendar stops in June; However, when searching in Finnair Plus, I can reserve prize seats in July 2026.
The cost of the Finnair award is higher: 94,000 Avios versus 60,000 miles of Aadvantage. However, since three tickets are sometimes difficult to get, it is worth the additional cost for me. Using Finnair, I would spend 282,000 avios for my family, which would otherwise cost around $ 8,400, giving me a value of 2.9 cents for Avios. According to the TPG in July 2025 ValuationsAvios are worth 1.4 cents each, which means that this redemption would give me more than twice the value.
More Availability of Premium Seat Awards (especially for Finnair Flights)
Having previous access to Premium cabin award tickets is a great advantage, but it is even more useful when it takes into account the amount of seats available for redemption.
If it is new in points and miles, an important aspect to remember is that an airline will always launch more prize seats to its own program than to other associated airlines.
For example, if you are looking to reserve a commercial class prize ticket on an American Airlines flight, the Aadvantage program will show you more availability than to reserve an American Airlines award through the British Airways Club. Similarly, Finnair Plus offers more commercial class prize tickets to reserve flights in Finnair.
Unidirectional Finnair flights from the United States to Helsinki airport (Hel) cost 62,500 avios in executive class, with surcharges much lower than those charged by British Airways.
One of the biggest limitations with awards reserves is the availability of seats limited by plane. Since getting to Europe is the expensive part, I find it quite easy for my family to fly directly from the United States to Helsinki in the executive class of Finnair and then buy a cheap cash ticket to our next destination in Europe.

Finnair Plus is a good program to use if you are looking to travel to Europe with minimal taxes and rates for premium cabin award tickets.
Based on several searches, Partner Airlines also seems to launch more seats in Finnair Plus than to other Oneworld programs. Cathay Pacific is known for being tight with the opening of a prize awards for the partners, but Finnair seems to be the exception.

The executive class flight of January 2026 Cathay Pacific that previously appears from Hong Kong to London appeared during my search results. However, the availability for the same flight did not appear when searching in Aadvantage and the Alaska mileage plan.
I still have to Fly Cathay Pacific Business class on a long distance flight because there is such scarce availability through Aadvantage, but with Finnair Plus, I will be able to mark that element of the desire list.

There is no shortage of avios profits thanks to transferable rewards
Now that we know that you can reserve prize flights through Finnair Plus before other programs and have access to more premium cab seats, here we show you how to start taking advantage of it.
I tend to use my Aadvantage miles for reservations. However, since Aadvantage is not associated with any transferable rewards credit card, I am frugal with my reimbursements, since they are difficult to win.
Since Finnair adopted Avios as its currency, the program has become easily accessible to US clients. For example, you can transfer Avios to Finnair Plus from its British Airways Club account.
Fortunately, British Airways Club is associated with American express membership rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Bilt rewards, Capital a mile and Wells Fargo Rewards. Avios can also transfer from Iberia and Qatar Airways in Finnair through British Airways.

In addition, you can transfer American Express card points to Qatar Airways Privilege Club and link the account of a British Airways Club account. From there, you will see its balance of Qatar Avios and can transfer Avios to Finnair Plus when you log in to British Airways.
An excellent way to gain transferable points is to request the CHASE SAPPHIRE Reserve® (see rates and rates), which has a lucrative welcome offer. The new card holders can win a welcome bonus of 100,000 bonus points plus $ 500 Chase Travel℠ Promotion credit* After spending $ 5,000 in the first three months from the opening of the account.
*The promotional credit is valid only for a unique use, if the promotional credit applies to a transaction of less than $ 500, it will lose the remaining balance.
How am I winning avios to work
I am currently winning Avios through three credit cards in my wallet: American Express Platinum Card®, Chase Sapphire reserve and the Citi Strata Premier® (see rates and rates).
My wife also has several credit cards that can be transferred to Finnair Plus (through the British Airways Club), so she has an even better possibility of obtaining premium cabin tickets.
Since I have broad opportunities to win avios with each of these cards, I don’t have to feel so pressed on my Aadvantage account by decreasing, since that used to be my main way to make premium cabin channels for OneWorld airlines.

Of course, some awards cost more through Finnair Plus, but I prefer to secure premium cab tickets so that my family has a more comfortable travel experience than the loss completely.

End
The Finnair Plus program was not even on my radar, but thanks to the program that Avios uses, it has become more accessible. The ability to transfer several different transferable rewards In Finnair through British Airways or other airlines entering Avios now gives me more ways to exchange points for premium cabin tickets.
The biggest benefit of the program is the ability to look for prize tickets beyond other Frequent Flying programs in OneWorld, which is useful for those reserve flights very much in advance. In general, I hope to take advantage of the difficult prizes to find, as with Cathay Pacific and Jal.
