Breeze Airways doubles in the state of Buckeye: The low-cost carrier based in Salt Lake City on Monday announced that the Akron-Canton (CAK) airport in Ohio will soon become its 11th crew base.
The announcement seems to prepare the stage for new destinations without stopping for the airport, which is approximately one hour south of Cleveland in the Northeast of Ohio.
“The Akron-Canton community continues to show a great demand for the premium and convenient service of Breeze, so establishing a base in the community is a natural adjustment,” said the founder and CEO of Breeze, David Neeleman, in a statement announcing The news.

There are no new routes … still
To be clear, there are still no new routes or breeze destinations to tell him yet. Think about this as Breeze putting your staff and infrastructure instead for a possible expansion in the future.
However, the ads of the past crew base have been followed by new routes, however, many of the transporter’s bases serve as minihubs for a dozen or more without scales.
As part of the new Ohio base, the carrier will bring 61 pilot, hostess and maintenance to the region during the next three years, a plan that helped the starter airline to ensure a tax credit agreement with Ohio legislators As part of the measure.

A considerable presence in Cak already
Breeze has already maintained a substantial presence in Akron-Canton for about four years, since the first days of its operations in 2021. In June, the carrier will serve nine non-scales destinations ranging from Las Carolinas to Florida, together with the service West coast to Las Vegas and Los Angeles, as shown in the following map of the Cirium aviation analysis firm.

No airline flew from Cak with as many seats as the breeze in 2024, due to Cirium data, although American Airlines offered many more outings (although with smaller airplanes).
Breeze is one of the two low -cost carriers that serve Cak; Allegiant Air is the other. However, it is worth noting that Frontier Airlines has a growing presence about 50 miles north at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE).
End
Breeze expects his Akron-Canton team base to launch at some point in this summer. It will mark the last expansion of the starting airline, which continues to increase its national footprint with new routes, bases and airplanes, namely its Airbus A220 aircraft fleet. The carrier also hopes to announce his first international flights of Spring, Neeleman He told me in December.
